In the night from Sunday to Monday, January 17/18, the Zurich city police (Stapo) had to take 16 "igloo drivers" out of traffic on the entire city area, who were driving with snow-covered or icy front and side windows. According to the police, twelve men and four women were referred to the relevant authorities (municipal magistrate's office, governor's office, public prosecutor's office). In serious cases, if there is a gross violation of traffic rules, even a withdrawal of identity card threatens, as the Stapo Zurich further writes.

According to the law, the windshield, the two front side windows and also the side mirrors must be free of snow and ice. This also applies to the lights and the license plates. The roof and hood of the vehicle must also be cleared. Falling chunks of snow or ice can lead to dangerous situations or even accidents.
