Safety advice for Mammut avalanche airbags
In voluntary cooperation with the bfu, Mammut Sports Group AG informs about a possible safety problem with the Mammut avalanche airbags of generation 3.0. It cannot be excluded that the release mechanism does not work, which would be associated with a risk of accident.

Customers are asked to check the release mechanism and correct it if necessary.
What is the danger posed by the affected products?
In individual cases, the release cable may have too much bend due to incorrect (self-)assembly of the system. This can impair the functionality of the avalanche airbag if it is triggered repeatedly and in individual cases can lead to the system not triggering and the avalanche airbag thus not fulfilling its main function.
Which products are affected?
All Mammut Generation 3.0 avalanche airbag systems from the Winter 2016/17 and Winter 2017/18 seasons are affected. They have a neon-orange deployment handle. To be checked are the Mammut RAS (Removable Airbag System) and PAS (Protection Airbag System) systems, as well as the products under the Snowpulse Highmark brand with the Mammut Airbag System 3.0.
Not affected are all Mammut and Snowpulse systems of generation 2.0 with red activation handle.
What should affected consumers do?
All customers in possession of a Generation 3.0 avalanche airbag with a neon-orange deployment handle are requested to use the enclosed Review and correct instructions or contact the Mammut customer service to turn.
