IT competence also brings business success

The complexity of IT infrastructures is increasing more and more for young companies and is often the decisive factor for business success. This is the finding of the current report "IT for Startups - Trends 2015" by the company LeaseWeb out. For the study, 100 experts from the German IT industry and startup scene were surveyed. "The evaluation reflects a direct correlation between the IT competence of a startup and its business success," says Benjamin Schönfeld of LeaseWeb, summarizing the study results. However, he emphasizes: "Without IT infrastructure, failure seems certain, but conversely, a good IT infrastructure alone does not guarantee success - of course, it also depends on the business idea and the founding team."

According to the survey, 85% of the experts surveyed firmly believe that the complexity of IT infrastructures at startups will continue to increase. 79% expect a related increase in the need for storage space. 65% are of the opinion that the growing flood of data will present young companies with ever greater challenges.

72% of the experts surveyed firmly believe that a "modern IT infrastructure designed for growth" is an important competitive advantage for a successful startup business. The most seamless availability of IT systems possible is also considered by 72% to be of high importance for entrepreneurial success. More than half of the experts (55%) also assume that IT services will become increasingly important for startups. In line with this trend, more than two-thirds (68%) of the startups want to outsource their IT infrastructure to an external service provider.
