CeBIT 2016: Switzerland is partner country

Switzerland will be a partner country at the world's most important platform for the digital economy, the CeBIT trade event next March.

The new Zurich Council of States and President of ICTswitzerlandRuedi Noser, puts it in a nutshell: "If you want to know what's going on technologically, you have to go to the CeBIT!" As a partner country of this international event, which will take place from March 14 to 18, 2016, Switzerland wants to present itself as a major player in global competition. And ICTswitzerland, the umbrella organization of associations as well as provider and user companies of information and communication technologies, is convinced that Switzerland, the world champion of innovation, can consolidate its image as an innovative research and business partner with its trade fair presence in Hannover.

Swiss Pavilion on 1'500 m2

The linchpin of the Swiss presence is the Partner Country Swiss Pavilion in Hall 6 with the theme Research & Innovation. This research platform sees itself as an interface for technology transfer between science and industry and covers a good 6000 square meters. Of this, the Swiss Pavilion will occupy 1,500 m2. And one of the topics is also called "Business Security", which is likely to play an increasingly important role in the age of Industry 4.0 and the Internet of Things.

A total of around 40 companies, start-ups and scientific institutes from Switzerland will be on site: The technical universities of Zurich and Lausanne, the universities of Zurich and Ticino, and three universities of applied sciences. The national project Swiss Innovation Park.

The "CeBIT Switzerland Summit" on the afternoon of the first day of the trade show is dedicated to digital transformation. This important aspect will also be the subject of the international CeBIT conference (March 14-17).

The traditional tour of the trade show by German Chancellor Angela Merkel will take place on the second day of the trade show: The starting point is the Swiss Pavilion.

And finally, one more "security" date: On March 16, Phil Zimmermann will be a speaker at the CeBIT conference in Hall 8 as part of the "Security" theme cluster. Zimmermann, who has won several awards, is regarded as one of the world's most distinguished cryptographers. He "fled" from the USA to Switzerland and is the inventor of Pretty Good Privacy, the world's most widely used software for encrypting and signing e-mails.
