It-sa with new record

it-sa 2016 ended with new records: 490 exhibitors (2015: 428) from 19 countries and well over 10,000 trade visitors (2015: 9,015) from Germany and abroad used Europe's largest trade fair on the topic of IT security as a platform for dialog, according to the organizers.

The organizers report that there were significantly more trade visitors to it-sa than in the previous year, especially from abroad. This underpins the trade event's role as a central information platform for IT security, according to the organizers. "The 2016 event was a complete success. The result impressively proves that the it-sa has established itself as the leading exhibition for IT security in Europe," sums up Frank Venjakob, of NürnbergMesse.

Comprehensive supporting program

The live hackings and presentations in the three open forums had met with great interest. In 230 contributions, the speakers provided information on technical issues, IT security strategy, current industry developments and threats from the cyber space. The topic of identity and access management was mapped out at the IAM Area. A separate Topic Route was dedicated to security for planning, building and operating data centers, which also provided easy orientation. Two international joint stands put IT security providers from abroad in the spotlight: French and Israeli companies presented themselves at country pavilions at it-sa.

Keynote from Schrems

The Special Keynote at it-sa 2016 was given by lawyer and data protection activist Maximilian Schrems on the third day of the trade show. In an exciting presentation on the EU General Data Protection Regulation, he explained how data protection issues also affect the use of IT security solutions and where case law is heading in the area of data protection and security.

Congress program with international accent

The four-day congress program, which started the day before the trade show, grew to 15 lecture series. Under the umbrella of Congress@it-sa, the BSI's IT-Grundschutztag (Basic IT Protection Day), the annual conference of IT security officers in the German states and municipalities, and the international EICAR Conference were held, among others.

From 2017 two halls for further growth

The next edition of it-sa will no longer be held in Hall 12 from October 10-12, 2017, but in Halls 9 and 10. "After demand and exhibition space grew from year to year, this step is logical. We are thus creating the basis for further growth of it-sa in the coming years," explains Frank Venjakob, NürnbergMesse.
