Legally valid identification by video
With "ID Check per Video", a new service from Swiss Post, individuals can be legally identified via the Internet. The new service is aimed at companies, authorities and institutions that need to verify the identity of natural persons once for their administrative processes.
Who does not know this? For the opening of a bank account, an extract from the criminal record or a settlement permit, the personal identity must be clearly verified. Until now, this has meant a personal visit or sending in a copy of an ID card, as well as several days' waiting time before the contract can be concluded. With the "ID check via videoWith the new "Swiss Post", natural persons can be identified online and in four languages, regardless of their location. The solution can be easily integrated into existing processes, portals and applications of companies or authorities, writes the provider.
To make use of the option, users need a computer with a webcam and microphone or a smartphone. "Simply set up the video connection, hold a valid ID with the front and back into the camera, have a photo taken of the face, and your identity is verified," says the Post.
