Working after hours: Swiss particularly hard-working
Compared to the rest of Europe, the Swiss answer emails particularly frequently after work. This makes it increasingly difficult to switch off and relax in your free time.

58% of the Swiss also answer work emails and messages in their free time. This puts them in the lead in a European comparison. In comparison, only 42% of Germans read business emails after work or at the weekend, and in France the figure is only 36%.
This is the result of a study by the German Association for Consumer and Communication Electronics (Gesellschaft für Unterhaltungs- und Kommunikationselektronik GFU which surveyed 6000 households in Germany, Spain, France, Great Britain, Italy, Austria, Spain and Switzerland about their usage behavior in connection with electrical and electronic devices.
However, this constant connection to the job has clear disadvantages: 49% of the Swiss stated that networking and the associated round-the-clock availability make it almost impossible to switch off and relax.
On the other hand, more and more people are doing private things during working hours, such as answering private emails or checking Facebook. Austrians are in the lead here: 52% of them use the internet privately during working hours. In Switzerland, on the other hand, the figure is only 42%.
