VBZ: Prevention successful
The Zurich public transport company (VBZ) saw a marked reduction in stop accidents in the first half of 2015. A comprehensive prevention program is responsible for this.

VBZ's "Safe on the Road" prevention campaign appears to be bearing fruit: in the first half of 2015, the Zurich transport company recorded around a third fewer so-called stopping accidents - i.e. accidents in connection with an emergency stop - than in the previous two years.
The number of accidents involving bodily injury also fell significantly. Between January and June 2015, "only" 199 such incidents were recorded, compared to 253 incidents in 2014. The number of loss events fell by a total of 6%.
The VBZ have Campaign launched in 2013. They are focusing on campaign days on which VBZ employees distribute flyers at stops and give passengers tips. Prevention training courses are also offered, in which 25 participants learn how to use streetcars and buses safely and receive a "certified VBZ passenger" certificate. To date, 400 people have already completed these courses.
