Recall for cordless hedge trimmers
In voluntary cooperation with the bfu, Stihl Vertriebs AG is recalling the cordless hedge trimmers with the sales designation HSA 56.
Recall action for hedge trimmers of type HSA 56:
All devices with a serial number lower than 436535186 are affected; the serial number can be found on the sticker on the hand guard of the device.
In rare cases, a switch malfunction is possible with these HSA 56 cordless hedge trimmers due to dirt in the motor housing. This can cause the hedge trimmer blades to run on, even after the switch has been released. This poses a risk of injury.
Free retrofitting
Owners of HSA 56 cordless hedge trimmers with a serial number lower than 436535186 are asked to stop using the devices and to contact their local dealer. Stihl specialist dealer to contact us. The Stihl specialist dealer will check the devices and retrofit the affected hedge trimmers promptly and free of charge so that the devices are available again for the 2017 gardening season. The batteries and chargers will not be replaced and can continue to be used.
This recall is a precautionary measure that Stihl is taking as a responsible manufacturer.
