Strengthening the resilience of civil aviation against cyber risks - that is the goal of the new EU regulation package on information security. The new EU regulations require the introduction of an information security management system (ISMS) at organizations active in civil aviation, the Federal Office of Civil Aviation (Bazl) writes in its media release. This management system serves to better protect information and systems against cyber risks. The Bazl is supervising the introduction of the system in the 230 organizations affected by it. The office itself also has to introduce such a management system. The requirements for this are harmonized at European level and would supplement existing requirements in the National Aviation Security Program. They are also compatible with the existing measures within the framework of the national cyber security strategy.

Simplification for sports and recreational aircraft

Another set of regulations will allow the development and production of sport and recreational aircraft to be simplified, the Bazl said. The administrative as well as financial burden for the organizations involved will be reduced, the media release said. At the same time, the new regulations will ensure that the required level of safety is maintained.

Another new provision concerns flight safety and the minimum tire pressure of large aircraft. This provision would allow the high uniform level of aviation safety in Switzerland and the EU to be maintained, it concludes.
