New SME handbook "Career and Family" supports companies with family-friendly working models
The compatibility of work and family life is of central importance for Switzerland. Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular benefit from family-oriented working conditions: They increase their attractiveness as employers, make optimum use of the potential skilled workforce and thus strengthen their competitiveness.

In order to support SMEs, the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) has updated the SME handbook "Work and Family", which was first published in 2007, again after 2016. A lot has happened since the last revision - for example in legislation or in the area of digital forms of work. The new edition picks up on the latest findings and presents them in a clear layout. The completely revised practical examples show how companies from different sectors have found successful solutions for a better work-life balance. With information on the flexibility of working hours and place of work, the organization of care responsibilities, possible time off and the creation of a family-friendly corporate culture, the handbook offers SMEs a valuable reference work.
