Cyber Security Month 2025: Together against phishing - how to protect your data
Phishing ist und bleibt eine der grössten Bedrohungen im Internet. Im Oktober führt das Bundesamt für Cybersicherheit (BACS) im Rahmen des jährlichen Cyber Security Month eine Sensibilisierungskampagne durch. In diesem Jahr dreht sich alles um das Thema «Wie schütze ich meine Daten online»? mit Fokus auf die Gefahren von Phishing. Ein Grossteil der Kampagneninhalte sowie ein Quiz wurden mit dem Verein Netpathie in Zusammenarbeit mit Jugendlichen erstellt. Mit Social Engineer und Kampagnenbotschafter Ivano Somaini wird zudem in einem Webinar aufgezeigt, wie Cyberkriminelle öffentliche oder abgephischte Daten für Angriffe nutzen.
Phishing attacks are becoming increasingly sophisticated and are adapting to new technologies, in particular the use of artificial intelligence (AI). With the help of these technologies, attackers can, for example, create realistic-looking fake emails to gain the trust of their victims. A decisive factor in the success of these attacks is access to personal data. Phishing attacks are particularly effective when sufficient information about a person is publicly available. It is therefore becoming increasingly important not only to raise awareness of phishing, but also to minimize the dissemination of personal data on the Internet in order to reduce the risk of such attacks.
Cyber Security Month 2025: Online data and phishing
To raise awareness of this threat among the Swiss population, the Federal Office for Cyber Security (BACS) is launching an awareness campaign on October 1, 2025. For the campaign content, the BACS has collaborated with the Netpathie association and created a quiz on this topic and visualizations with young people, among other things. For professionals, the topic will be highlighted on October 9 in an online brownbag lunch with campaign ambassador Ivano Somaini, which is open to all interested parties. The campaign runs until October 31, 2025.
From European Cyber Security Month to Cyber Security Month
Until now, Cyber Security Month has been coordinated across Europe by the European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA). ENISA discontinued this coordination work at the end of 2024. Nevertheless, Cyber Security Month will remain in October and the individual countries will decide independently on the focus of the content. With this in mind, the BACS has decided to focus this year's Swiss campaign on the topics of online data and phishing.
