The Webster family of six and their friends experience numerous unpleasant situations and dangers in everyday digital life that we could all encounter. The comic stories in the new series deal with topics such as deep fakes, sexism in online games, bullying, counterfeit branded products online, the use of legally compliant wireless devices and effective password protection. The Websters' adventures are part of a prevention campaign by various federal agencies and Swiss Crime Prevention to raise awareness among the Swiss population of the everyday challenges in the digital world.

Comics as a tool for schools and at home

The comic stories can be used in school lessons or privately. They encourage discussion with children and young people about everyday digital life and offer practical advice and further information on the individual topics. OFCOM has produced the stories in collaboration with the Federal Social Insurance Office (Youth and Media Platform), Swiss Crime Prevention, the Federal Office for Cyber Security and Stop Piracy. The comics are published as a printed brochure and in digital form. They are available in the four national languages and in English. The stories are available on the website www.websters.swiss and are also published on Instagram. OFCOM worked together with the Swiss illustrator Matthias Leutwyler for the visualization.

International distribution

OFCOM and its partners have been regularly publishing new stories about the Webster family since 2015, thousands of which are distributed in Swiss schools and used in lessons. The comics are also a success internationally: all editions have been translated into Romanian, among other languages, and are used in prevention work in Romania.

Order the brochure free of charge

The comics can be ordered free of charge for school lessons, for display in suitable locations or for private use from the Federal Office for Buildings and Logistics be ordered.
