Warnings of serious cyber threats now also via Alertswiss
From now on, the public and companies can be warned of serious cyber threats via Alertswiss. The Federal Office for Cyber Security (FOCS) and the Federal Office for Civil Protection (FOCP) have strengthened their cooperation. Cyber warnings are now also being integrated into the Alertswiss app and web platform. This provides an additional channel to inform and warn the population as quickly as possible in the event of large-scale or new types of cyber attacks and to protect them with specific instructions for action.
In the event of a large-scale cyberattack, the first few hours and preventive protective measures can be crucial. The Federal Office for Cybersecurity (FOCBS) and the Federal Office for Civil Protection (FOCP) have therefore intensified their cooperation for the warning of cyber threats. In addition to the already established channels, the FOCP will now also issue warnings via Alertswiss if new or large-scale cyberattacks endanger the population or companies. The BACS will continue to communicate everyday cyber threats such as phishing campaigns via its usual channels in order to continuously raise awareness and protect the population.
Push notifications with instructions for action
Every cyber warning published by the BACS contains specific instructions for action so that the public and companies can protect themselves effectively. The reports are distributed via the BACS website, the Cyber Security Hub, LinkedIn and now also via the Alertswiss platform (app and web). To report an incident or if you have any questions, a reporting form is available on the BACS website, which the public and companies can use to contact the BACS. The Alertswiss app is currently installed on more than 2.3 million smartphones and therefore reaches a large proportion of the population. With the app, users can be informed, warned and alerted with push notifications in the event of events relevant to population protection in their own favorite cantons and at their own location. Cyber warnings published by the BACS are published via Alertswiss at the «Warning» or «Information» level for the whole of Switzerland or affected regions, depending on the threat.
