Graduation ceremony for security systems project managers: Specialists for a growing industry

The «Project manager for security systems with a federal certificate» course recently ended with a diploma ceremony. The graduates celebrated their successful completion together with family members, lecturers and industry representatives - a well-deserved moment after many months of intensive training.

In his speech, Martin Altorfer, President of the Association of Swiss Installers of Security Systems (SES), paid tribute to the great commitment of the participants. He reminded the audience that further training of this kind is more than just learning: «You often studied late into the night, discovered new things, doubted and gave up a lot. Hopefully it was also difficult - because that's exactly what makes you strong for practice.»

Altorfer encouraged the graduates to consciously enjoy this moment with their loved ones. At the same time, he placed their achievement in a larger context: over 300 people have completed the course since 2009. The SES Association is thus making an important contribution to the sustainable development of the industry.

Security technology: no longer a niche

The importance of safety technology is constantly increasing, Altorfer emphasized. The Swiss
The security technology market currently generates sales of around 850 million Swiss francs and is growing continuously. «Security technology is not a niche in building technology, but an independent and central discipline. The demand for well-trained specialists is constantly increasing.»

The recent past has shown just how important fire safety is, particularly in the specialist area of fire. The fire disaster in Crans Montana made it clear that fire safety is not a theoretical exercise, but a practical necessity. He therefore supports the fact that the new fire safety regulations (BSV) incorporate the findings from this accident and set even stricter standards in future.

The field of security is also becoming increasingly complex: new technologies, international standards such as NIS 2 and the increasing combination of physical and digital security require new skills. «Physical security is not an optional extra, but a duty. And even if artificial intelligence changes many things, it does not replace people.»

Voices from the alumni

One of the graduates is Alex Kilbey from Securiton. For him, the training was closely linked to his professional development: «The training was a requirement for the internal step change - my employer therefore also supported me.»

Today, Kilbey works in field sales and is responsible for video security systems. However, the further training gave him much more than a formal qualification: «It opened my eyes to the other security trades: intruder alarm systems, access control systems, door management systems, security control systems. Even though I specialize in video security systems, I now understand the overall system much better.»

Jan Gründler also confirms a sharpened eye for «the big picture», which he was able to gain through further training. At his employer, ES Sicherheit in St. Gallen, he was able to develop his skills to become Deputy Technical Manager.

Good decision for the future

The graduation ceremony made it clear that the graduates have opted for further training that will make them fit for a challenging future. They combine technology and people - and are thus helping to ensure that Switzerland remains a safe place in the future.
