Fire protection: new laboratory building
UL, a company active in the field of safety science, and the research, testing and certification body ift Rosenheim have agreed to intensify their cooperation. The plan is to build up testing and laboratory capacities to expand UL services in Europe.
The companies UL and ift Rosenheim look back on many years of cooperation in the areas of testing and certification in fire protection. Now they want to strengthen this cooperation: UL is realizing a laboratory building near the ift Rosenheim company. This will enable the necessary tests for fire behavior, fire resistance and smoke protection to be carried out more quickly and effectively as the basis for certificates that are in demand internationally, as the two companies let it be known. "The central location in Europe, the good transport links, the excellent infrastructure and, of course, the synergies in the cooperation with ift Rosenheim clearly speak in favor of the Rosenheim site," says UL Vice President of the DACH Region, Ingo M. Rübenach.
"ift Rosenheim also benefits from this cooperation, because UL certificates are of great importance not only for construction projects and building products in the USA, but also in the Middle East and Asia. This means that manufacturers and system providers can obtain almost all the tests and verifications required worldwide from a single source and at a single location," Ulrich Sieberath, head of the ift Rosenheim institute, is convinced.
The new laboratory building is scheduled to go into operation in 2017.
