Tick app: tick prevention with the smartphone

The tick app consists of a warning and an information part and shows the correct behavior in case of a tick bite. The warning function shows the current tick danger potential in the field. The dynamic warning shows the user the tick danger during the excursion based on the five-level tick bite danger scale. The information section shows how to protect yourself from ticks outdoors.

After a tick bite, the user enters the tick bite in the tick diary. The app automatically reminds the user of the tick bite after five, ten and 28 days and displays descriptions of possible Lyme disease symptoms. If Lyme disease is suspected, a visit to the doctor is recommended. The "Tick" app is available for download free of charge for Android and iOS devices on Google Play and Appstore.

Why do you need the "Tick" app?

In recent years, the Federal Office of Public Health (FOPH) reported 20,000 visits to the doctor due to a tick bite, around 10,000 cases of Lyme disease. Diseases transmitted by tick bites are on the rise and cause enormous costs. Because more people spend their leisure time in tick areas and ticks are spreading as a result of global warming, this trend is increasing. This app can help prevent tick bites and detect Lyme disease at an early stage. Thanks to the warning function and the tips for protective measures, you can protect yourself from ticks and avoid being bitten in the first place.
