Knowledge around the GHS
Since the beginning of June, new chemical products may only be labeled with the new hazard symbols. The federal government supports with information material around the new regulation.
The complete changeover to the new product labeling is taking place in Switzerland in stages. It is already well advanced at the major distributors. However, products already manufactured with the old labeling may still be sold until the end of May 2017.
For companies as well as the population are available under www.cheminfo.ch (d) or www.infochim.ch (f/i) brochures, fact sheets, learning materials, educational films, and flyers available for download or order. A free app for smartphones was also launched. Among other things, the app "cheminfo" provides information on the new symbols and contains an emergency call-145 function that can be activated in the event of poisoning accidents and suspected poisoning. This sends the emergency call to the Tox Info Suisse center, where medical information is provided free of charge around the clock.
