CID warns of credit fraud
The criminal investigation department of the Basel-Stadt public prosecutor's office has recently had to deal with several cases of credit fraud. Injured parties lost several thousand francs in alleged credit transactions.
The credit fraudsters offer online loans of up to 80,000 francs on professionally designed websites, according to the Criminal Investigation Department of the Public Prosecutor's Office Basel-Stadt writes. Contracts would regulate the granting of credit and the repayment modalities. In order to obtain the loan, the perpetrators demanded a brokerage fee of several thousand francs. Only when this fee has been paid, the loan is promised to be disbursed. The fact is, however, that no loan is paid out to the applicant and the brokerage fee transferred is lost. It is to be assumed that the perpetrator is abroad, as the CID further informed.
