Stapo Zurich increases security measures

Due to several tragic incidents in various European cities in recent weeks and months, the Zurich City Police (Stapo) is adjusting the security arrangements in connection with major events, as it has just announced.

No concrete indications

Following the various attacks in Europe since the beginning of 2015, the federal intelligence service has also classified the threat situation for Switzerland as increased, according to the Zurich police. However, there are still no concrete indications of an increased threat in Zurich, it is emphasized. They are in contact with various partner organizations, such as the Fedpol, the cantonal police forces and the respective persons responsible for major events, and are constantly assessing the situation. The findings have led the city police to make various changes to the security arrangements for major events, the statement added. These would for example

- the early identification of potential risks before and during events,

- concern the increase of the intervention capacity as well as the access and entry area.

Further information on the mentioned measures would not be given, the police concluded.
