Pay at the online bus counter
With the introduction of the new fine slip as of November 1, 2017, the Basel-Stadt Cantonal Police is expanding e-government. The administrative work involved in handling a case will be easier to manage in the future, writes the Kapo.
The new bus slip contains a QR code that allows direct access to an online bus counter. Access is also possible by entering the bus number. For those who do not want to or cannot use the new service, nothing will change: as before, offenders will be informed of the fine by mail after 30 days with a notice of violation. The new fine notice is printed on a new type of weather-resistant paper, according to the Basel-Stadt Cantonal Police (Kapo).
The new ticket has been tested for several months. In the future, mobile data entry (MDE) will take place via a specially developed app on cell phones. The old fine slips and MDE devices will be gradually replaced, according to the statement. Kapo Basel-Stadt is expected to be fully equipped with the new devices and fine slips by mid-2018.
More efficiency thanks to "Kapo2016"
The introduction of the new fine slip and the development of the associated app are part of the multi-year "Kapo2016" project. By reviewing and improving all internal processes and introducing new technical solutions, the paperwork for the police will be significantly reduced, according to a statement. At the same time, thanks to the optimized processes, duplications, administrative idle time and possible sources of error will be eliminated. By expanding the e-government offering, the population can increasingly use police services directly and at any time from home. Furthermore, the cantonal police can invest their efficiency gains in the safety of the population by further increasing their presence on the streets, the report concludes.
