Checkbox for ergonomics and safety in the office

Two apps from the EKAS find tripping hazards in the office and help to set up the workplace ergonomically.

What does a healthy office workplace look like? Certainly not like this.

Many work absences in the service sector can be prevented with the right preventive measures. Frequent absences are due to tripping and falling accidents. In addition, there is neck and back pain, which is often due to an incorrectly set up workplace.

But often these complaints could be easily averted with the right measures: The Federal Coordination Commission for Occupational Safety EKAS provides various free prevention tools for this purpose, which can be used to make a big difference with little effort.

The FCOS is now launching a digital prevention tool that meets the needs of the modern workplace: It includes two easy-to-use apps that take little time and help improve occupational safety and health in the office.

With the SafetyCheck, tripping hazards can be identified and eliminated during a tour of the office. It can also be used to check safety precautions in office furnishings, climbing aids, means of transport, markings and escape routes in order to prevent accidents caused by falling. The hazards are recorded and the app shows how they can be remedied. The user decides whether to create an office check per room, per department, per floor or for the entire office.

... and ergonomics
ErgoCheck contains various learning and check videos that can be used to set up and check office workstations ergonomically. The learning videos provide information on the correct sitting posture so that blood circulation is ensured when working at the computer, the back and neck do not hurt, and no pressure points develop on the arms and hands. In addition, the app shows the benefits of "sitting in motion." If the body remains in motion during computer work, permanent stresses on the body are reduced. The learning videos also include an overview of ergonomic aids. The check videos show how the workplace can be optimized with a few simple steps, even if it is not ideally equipped from an ergonomic point of view.

Because even small changes have a positive effect on the well-being of every employee. To relieve the strain on the neck, shoulders or wrists, it is often enough to position and adjust the mouse, keyboard, document tray and screen correctly.

The EKAS checkbox with its two apps was created as part of the "Prevention in the Office" campaign. The campaign is committed to improving health and safety in the office with various prevention tools.
