GVB: New Chairman of the Board of Directors appointed
Reto Heiz will become the new Chairman of the Board of Directors of Gebäudeversicherung Bern as of January 1, 2019. He succeeds Jörg Kaufmann, who is not standing for re-election after nine years as Chairman due to age.
The Government Council of the Canton of Berne has appointed Reto Heiz, who is a member of the Board of Directors of Gebäudeversicherung Bern (GVB) for just under a year, was elected Chairman of the GVB Board of Directors as of January 1, 2019. The 60-year-old is also Vice President of the Trade and Industry Association of the Canton of Bern (HIV) and acts as President of Wirtschaft Thun Oberland. He is also Chairman of the Board of Berner Reha Zentrum AG and a member of the Burgdorf Castle Foundation Board.
Reto Heiz succeeds Jörg Kaufmann, who will step down from his position at the end of December 2018 after nine years at the age of 71. His extensive knowledge of the Bernese and Swiss economy and his leadership experience have been an asset to the GVB Board of Directors, the organization writes.
Chief Executive Officer to leave as of February 2020
Ueli Winzenried, Chief Executive Officer, will retire at the end of February 2020 at the age of 65. He will continue to be privately involved in business circles and non-profit organizations, the statement said. Winzenried has driven GVB forward over the past 19 years and positioned it as an attractive company in the market. To ensure a smooth transition, the search for a successor will be initiated soon, GVB writes in conclusion.
