Bye Cebit 2019
Cebit is a thing of the past. In view of declining space bookings for Cebit 2019, Deutsche Messe has streamlined its portfolio. The industry-related digital topics of Cebit will be continued at Hannover Messe, according to reports.
The era of the since 1986 annually held Cebit in Hanover is coming to an end. The trade event planned for June 2019 will be canceled. In 2018, the platform was still frequented by around 120,000 visitors (2017: approx. 200,000) and 2,800 exhibitors (2016: 3,300, 2017: 3,000). According to organizer Deutsche Messe, the technological development of recent years also shows that a horizontal trade fair such as Cebit is increasingly encountering declining demand in the digital economy. Since the innovation steps due to digitization are primarily taking hold in the application industries, digitization is the dominant topic at almost all industry trade fairs. This is influencing the trade fair policy of companies that are among the classic core exhibitors at Cebit. They are increasingly using the user industry trade shows as a platform for initiating business.
Themes are integrated into the industrial fair
"In recent years, the German business community has repeatedly spoken about the thematic overlap of Hanover Fair and Cebit were discussed. We will therefore transfer the topics that fit the clear orientation of Hannover Messe in terms of content," said Jochen Köckler, CEO of Deutsche Messe AG, a few days ago. In the coming weeks, he added, intensive checks will be made with the digital market to determine which topics have potential for focused trade fairs. For those Cebit topics that do not fit into the Hannover Messe are to be integrated where they reach a selected audience of a focused trade fair.
