Fire laboratory activities to continue seamlessly
In a few days, a supporting association will take over the activities around the fire laboratory.
Almost a year ago, VKF ZIP AG decided to no longer operate the former Empa fire laboratory. Therefore, as of June 26, 2019, the cross-industry sponsoring association founded a few weeks ago will take over SIPIZ - Swiss Institute for Testing, Inspection and Certification - all activities of VKF ZIP AG and continues them, according to a media release of the Association of Cantonal Building Insurers (VKG). The testing, certification and inspection of fire protection products in Switzerland is thus secured. Thus, the economy continues to benefit from an independent Swiss solution.
According to information, more than 30 associations, institutions, companies and individuals have confirmed their support by registering for membership. A broad co-sponsorship is an important prerequisite for success and long-term stability.
Expansion of the offer
In a first step, the existing infrastructure will be used for testing fire protection products. The impetus for the further development of the testing infrastructure has been given, the media release also states.
In addition to the focus on fire protection, the association also wants to enable further certification and inspection activities as services for products of the participating industries, it concludes.
