Digitaltag 2019 - Switzerland should have its say
(Critical) discussions on digitization are to take place throughout Switzerland on September 3. The population is called upon to participate in the various events.
The visitors at this year's Digitaltag should not only experience digitization, but also be able to actively participate. A unique opportunity to do so is offered by the digitalswitzerland-initiated Event series "tell," writes the organization. "The motto is "digital starts with you - talk to us! At ten locations, three in French-speaking Switzerland and seven in German-speaking Switzerland, a total of around twenty free events will be held on September 3.
Tell" receives prominent support from the highest level. Guy Parmelin, Minister of Education and Economic Affairs, is the patron of the event series and will officially open it at 1:30 p.m. in Bern's Generationenhaus. The subsequent event will be dedicated to "lifelong learning," a central theme of this year's Digitaltag.
Digitization and climate change in Bern
The "tell" events take place in a world café format. After short presentations, participants discuss three questions at round tables. After each question, the discussion rounds change. The events are open to all interested parties. No prior knowledge is required, and everyone is welcome to have their say. A special highlight awaits visitors to the "tell" organized by digitalswitzerland, economiesuisse and the World Economic Forum in Bern: Federal Councillor Simonetta Sommaruga will open the evening. The event is dedicated to the current topic "Sustainable Digital: Digitization as an Opportunity against Climate Change?". The participants continuously collect the results of the discussions by writing down their thoughts on tablecloths. At the end of the discussions, a moderator briefly summarizes the insights gained.
Thematic diversity at the third Digitaltag
The events are thematically diverse: mobility, health, education, work 4.0, e-democracy, my data, smart city, media & news and lifestyle. At the Digitaltag in Geneva, for example, the Canton of Geneva, Initiative of Change, the ICRC, the HES-SO and the University of Geneva will be addressing issues relating to people at the heart of the digital transformation. In Basel, Impact Hub Basel and Personalized Health Basel want to know: "Who do you trust with your data - and what do you want in return?". They invite you to a discussion about sensitive data in healthcare. In Chur, the topic is: "How secure is your data and who knows it anyway?"
digitalswitzerland is evaluating the results of the discussions together with a research collaboration of the University of Zurich, the ZHAW and the FHNW. Based on this, the location initiative plans to publish a report. In addition, digitalswitzerland is pursuing the vision of holding the world's largest World Café, analog and digital, with "tell" in the future, the press release concludes.
