The know-how around the door should not be underestimated, because it must meet many requirements: Fire protection, escape route function, burglar resistance, sound insulation and much more. The door planner must therefore have in-depth knowledge. The association of the door industry, the VST, therefore promotes education and training. With the course held for the first time last year "Door Planner VST/VSSM" participants should receive a solid basis for their professional future.

The 2019 graduates

VST President Rolf Honegger and Hans Kaiser, Höhere Fachschule Bürgenstock, presented the "Door Planner VST/VSSM" diploma to the following 17 graduates in Wettingen on November 14, 2019.

Adrian Langenstein (1st place), Marc Honegger and Ernst Caspescha shone with the best finishes.

Also passed (in alphabetical order): Marcel Achermann, Martial Bircher, David Fischer, David Haas, Katy Hahn, Hanspeter Link, Elisa Marti, Sascha Meier, Andreas Mock, André Oppermann, Vincenzo Pollice, Sebastian Signer, Thomas Widmer, Mathias Zurbrügg.

What are the main topics?

The door industry offers the training in cooperation with the Bürgenstock College. The main topics of the eight-day course (plus a half-day exam) are:

  • Designs and standards for the construction of doors
  • Fittings and electronic controls
  • Building physics requirements for doors
  • Serviceability of doors
  • Door projects in practice

The next course starts in February 2020, and there are still a few places available, says VST President Rolf Honegger.  (rs)
