Digital technologies and Covid as new challenges
A 2019 European Survey of Enterprises on New and Emerging Risks (ESENER) identified digitalization as an emerging occupational safety and health issue.
A new ESENER study highlights the dangers posed by digitalization in the area of occupational safety and health. Despite the increasing use of robots, notebooks, smartphones or wearable devices, the potential impact of such technologies on workers' safety and health is discussed in less than one in four workplaces (24 percent), according to the study.
However, new work practices related to Covid 19 protection scenarios and associated psychosocial risks were also exemplified in the weight of the 2019 survey. Greater integration of employees in view of the avoidance of psychosocial risks and the observance of legal provisions or compliance with work regulations must be ensured to an even greater extent.
