Zurich City Police relies on Audi e-car
The evaluation process for the procurement of seven new e-cars for the traffic police has been completed. The city of Zurich has opted for the Audi e-tron. Cost: around 117,000 Swiss francs per electric vehicle.
The Zurich City Police (Stapo) intends to convert its vehicle fleet to electric drive in stages. For this reason, those responsible launched an ordinary tendering procedure on November 4, 2019, and carried out an evaluation procedure after receiving the offers. In the process, technical and operational assessments were made, as well as extensive tests, writes the city police. The Audi e-tron prevailed over two other vehicle types.
E-motor brings savings
The all-electric vehicles will replace the traffic police's gasoline and diesel vehicles, some of which are already 15 years old, over the next two years. According to information, the basic price per vehicle is about 7,500 francs higher than when the last vehicles with internal combustion engines were procured for the traffic police in 2010.
The new electric vehicle, including special police equipment and service package, costs around 117,000 Swiss francs per unit. Over a service life of 10 years and around 150,000 kilometers, savings of around 25,000 francs per vehicle are expected due to the electric motors and lower maintenance costs, according to the police. The award is not yet legally binding. Source: Stapo Zurich
