A+A2017: Focus on occupational safety and health
The International Congress for Occupational Safety and Health is the most important congress event for safety and health at work - and has been since the early 1950s. For its 35th anniversary, it presents itself parallel to A+A 2017 with a new overall structure.
This year, the International Congress for Occupational Safety and Health will open on the eve of A+A 2017, Monday, October 16, together with the leading trade fair for personal protection, occupational safety and health at work at the Classic Remise event location in Düsseldorf. There, as part of the grand opening event, the Chairwoman of the Federal Working Group for Safety and Health at Work (Basi) Sonja König, the President of the A+A Trade Fair Advisory Board Klaus Bornack and Martin Temple, Chair of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) will welcome representatives of the A+A partner country Great Britain. As an important component of the congress, the German Occupational Health and Safety Award will be presented in a separate event on Tuesday afternoon. It recognizes the best technical and organizational occupational safety solutions for small and large companies.
New structure and special events
With the opening ceremony brought forward, the A+A Congress now has the entire first day available for specialist events. On the first three days of A+A, these events will focus entirely on safety, health and ergonomics, while the last day - Friday, October 20 - will be devoted entirely to "Focus Professions. The focus then will be on questions of training and cooperation between the professions in occupational safety and health, as well as the presentation of occupational safety and health as an interesting field of education and employment.
Also new: The event series "Practice Interactive"with practical approaches to the further development of basic concepts and basic topics of occupational health and safety, such as risk assessment or workplace health promotion (WHP).
Focal points and overarching aspects
Events on the topics of prevention culture and digitalization represent overarching focal points of the A+A Congress 2017. Then, in addition to the topic "Work 4.0" in the event "Industry 4.0"will focus on assistance systems for occupational health and safety and human-robot cooperation. Another central topic is carcinogenic hazardous substances such as asbestos, which will be discussed under the motto "Fighting occupational cancer" as part of an EU-wide campaign.
Certain industries and professions will have their own focal points at the A+A Congress 2017 - for example, the office sector, with a special focus on the design of open office landscapes. But the construction industry and the public sector will also be given special attention. In addition, there will be a separate "Forum Occupational Safety and Health Administration".
On Thursday, October 19, 2017, a full-day event will start for the first time on the topic "Disability representation and prevention". Representatives of the severely disabled are a new visitor group at A+A. The event, which was conceived especially for them in the context of the current debate on inclusion, will focus among other things on the newly created Federal Participation Act, the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and, above all, on accessibility as a central topic for occupational safety and health.
Another core area is formed by the events "Electromagnetic fields (EMF)", "Biologicals", "Noise" and "Optical radiation". Separately, under the title "Biologically effective lighting" discussed the new lighting concepts adapted to the human day-night rhythm.
Twelve series of events at the A+A Congress will be simultaneously interpreted into German and English. The A+A Congress will be accompanied by the high-level conference of the International Labor Organization (ILO) and the Forum of the International Social Security Association (ISSA).
