Handling instructions for the safe construction site

Besides falls, what are the most common hazards in shell construction and how can they be avoided? What measures are necessary to protect employees from harmful substances, noise or excessive physical strain? The industry rule provides clear answers to questions like these and practical instructions. It provides responsible persons with the most important information on the use of work equipment such as ladders and scaffolding, on the use of machines, and on various activities in shell construction, such as masonry and carpentry work.
Clear occupational safety compendium for shell construction
In shell construction, a very extensive set of rules and regulations from different work areas and sources must be observed due to the various trades involved. "The new industry rule bundles all these legal requirements, potential hazards and preventive measures clearly presented in a single publication. This makes it easier for those responsible to implement or delegate occupational safety and health measures in practice," explains Prof. Dr.-Ing. Marco Einhaus, Head of the Structural Engineering Division in the DGUV Construction Department. In addition to accident insurance experts, representatives of the construction industry's employee and employer associations were particularly involved in drafting the industry rule. "As a result of the close cooperation, we now have a compendium of occupational safety and health rules for shell construction that is supported and used by all partners."
Implementation of occupational safety regulations made easy
The industry rules of the statutory accident insurance are a new information format. They do not set their own law, but summarize the existing complex accident for the companies of a specific industry in an understandable way. The over 100-page industry rule "Shell Construction" is the first publication of its kind for the construction industry. It serves as a practical prevention tool for those responsible: symbols make it easier to find information, and concrete examples and pictures illustrate the instructions for action. Checklists, test protocols and references to further documents facilitate the correct implementation of the occupational health and safety requirements.
