Occupational safety and health protection in companies in the meat industry
Every year, more than 2,000 occupational accidents occur in the Swiss meat industry, around half of which are cut and stab injuries. Occupational safety and health protection therefore play an important role in this industry.
The Federal Coordination Commission for Occupational Safety FCOS has therefore decided to support companies in the meat industry in the prevention of occupational accidents, occupational diseases and work-related health hazards with a brochure from the series "Accidents - no coincidence!
Important working tool in prevention
The brochure contains important information about the Occupational safety and health protection in butcheries, slaughterhouses, meat processing plants and in the retail trade with meat and meat products. It is aimed primarily at employers, safety officers, employees and trainers.
In thematic sections, this brochure lists possible hazards and at the same time proposes suitable measures. The FCOS is thus making an active contribution to reducing the number of days lost due to accidents or illness among employees in the meat industry. The advantages are obvious: fewer absences, lower costs, higher motivation and better performance.
