Bernese Kapo protection Stefan Blättler becomes head of the police institute in Neuchâtel
Stefan Blättler has been appointed as the new director of the Swiss Police Institute. He will take up his post on January 1, 2022 and succeeds Reto Habermacher.
The commander of the Bernese cantonal police, Stefan Blättler, will take over as director of the Swiss Police Institute (SPI) in Neuchâtel on January 1, 2022. There he succeeds the director Reto Habermacher, who died in January. Reto Habermacher, the previous director of the SPI, had died unexpectedly and suddenly on January 8.
Stefan Blättler has an international network and studied at the Faculty of Law of the University of Neuchâtel, obtaining his doctorate in 1987. His professional career took him from Neuchâtel as an assistant to the Chair of Criminal Law via the Geneva banking sector in 1989 to the Cantonal Police of Berne, which he has headed since August 1, 2006. Since 1990, he has also worked as a lecturer and course director at the SPI and also headed the Conference of Cantonal Police Commanders from 2014 to 2020.
