Better protection for people with relapses or late effects who were injured before insurance age
The Federal Council would like to provide better protection for people who have had an accident before the insured age and has therefore adopted the dispatch on the revision of the Accident Insurance Act (UVG) to implement motion 11.3811 Darbellay "Closing the legal gap in accident insurance".

This amendment guarantees the payment of daily allowances under accident insurance in cases where the incapacity for work of an insured person is due to relapses or late effects in connection with an accident suffered in adolescence and therefore not yet insured under the UVG.
If a person who is not yet working has an accident, the medical costs are covered by their health insurance. If they later suffer a relapse or late effects in connection with this accident in their youth after taking up gainful employment, they will not receive any daily allowances under the UVG as they were not yet insured at the time of the accident. She must therefore turn to her health insurance fund, which will cover the medical costs under the terms of the Health Insurance Act (KVG). The loss of earnings is insured by the employer, but only for a limited period.
In response to motion 11.3811 Darbellay "Closing the legal gap in accident insurance" adopted by Parliament, the Federal Council is proposing an amendment to the UVG. In future, relapses or late effects in connection with an accident that was not insured under the UVG and occurred before the age of 25 will be considered non-occupational accidents and entitle the insured person to daily allowances for a maximum of 720 days. The cost of this new risk to insurers is estimated at a maximum of CHF 17 million. It will be financed by a minor adjustment to UVG premiums.
