Industry exchange between construction and security sectors
The security industry meets the construction industry at Swissbau (January 14-18, 2020), which starts in about 40 days. The Safety Congress will also be held in Basel for the first time.
The Security Congress will kick off on January 14, 2020, with the opening address being given by none other than Jean-Claude Brossard of the Federal Intelligence Service. He will address the increasing threat to the state, citizens and companies and highlight its complexity, but also how it can be countered.
Risk assessment is part of everyday life. But how do you go about it properly? Axel Sitt, Swiss delegate at ISO for the new version of "31010 Risk Assessment Techniques", gets to the bottom of this.
What does critical infrastructure protection mean for companies or an administration? SSI security consultant Peter Christen provides answers and underlines this with an example.
Do we have electricity shortages under control? Werner Meier, Delegate for National Economic Supply and Head of Group Security at an energy supplier, gets to the bottom of planning and implementing electricity management measures.
"Cyber security in the digital transformation - risks, opportunities and new roles" is the topic of Marcus Beyer. Among other things, the organizational developer will also address emerging gateways that cybercriminals like to abuse.
Architecture and security
"Building design and safety: all routine?" is the topic on January 15 in the morning. Architect Christof Goldschmid will discuss, for example, how architecture and security can be reconciled. Of course, practical examples will not be missing.
Jürg Liechti explores the pitfalls of hidden risks in (construction) projects. Safety consultant Thomas Streit, in turn, will speak on "Practical example: increasing safety in existing buildings".
Innovations in building security
On January 16 in the morning, it's all about innovation, and it's all about building security:
- How and where is the Internet of Things combined with building security and already in use?
- Is the cloudification of security technology more than just a trend?
- What does "smart" mean for access security?
- Does technical progress mean a step backwards for security?
- How is smart networking implemented?
These are five burning questions about building security that experts will answer in a practical way.
Fire protection knows many participants
Fire protection is a discipline with many stakeholders who view the subject from different perspectives: Fire police, engineers, property insurers, property operators and fire prevention officers. Communicating the views of these parties and acquiring fire safety knowledge in law, responsibilities and quality assurance is the objective for the continuing education module on January 15.
On the afternoon of January 16, selected fire protection topics will be discussed: for example, "Fire protection off the shelf or tailor-made?" (Matthias Wegmann), "BIM & fire protection - digitalization in the security industry" (Urs Käser), "Alternative routes: reduced escape routes thanks to video-based people counting" (Florian Zimmermann) or "Trends in Swiss fire protection training" (Andrea Frangi).
Largest construction trade fair
During the five days of Swissbau, the largest trade fair for the construction and real estate industry in Switzerland, around 900 exhibitors will be on site. Also present are over 30 industry organizations that have helped shape the Swissbau Focus program. Here, the focus is on seven thematic clusters: "Digitalization and Networking", "Spatial Development and Infrastructure", "Education, Research and Innovation", "Real Estate Market and Facility Management", "Energy and Climate", "Resources and Materials", and "Architecture and Design".
The Innovation Lab trade show forum is dedicated to the trend topics of Building Information Modeling (BIM), digital solutions and building of the future. This special show is therefore all about digital transformation and shows how buildings will be planned, built, used and operated in the near future. Not least because of the interdisciplinary dialog, the topic of building security is also to be increasingly represented at this major event. This is underlined not only by the Security Congress, which is being held in Basel for the first time, but also by specialized companies at the former security trade fair in Zurich. (rs/pd)
