Industry forum ONVIF releases "Profile Q
For the industry standard ONVIF, the Profile Q specification is released immediately for quick installation and enhanced security.
ONVIF, the global standardization initiative for IP-based physical security products, is now enabling simple and fast setup and configuration of ONVIF-compliant devices and advanced security features with Profile Q, it says. With pre-configured features, Profile Q allows system integrators and end users to easily set up and configure basic devices and simplifies the installation and connection of systems. Furthermore, the specification supports the secure communication protocol Transport Layer Security (TLS), which allows ONVIF devices themselves to communicate with clients over a network, protected from tampering and eavesdropping attacks, according to the statement.
Profile Q has been in Release Candidate status for some time to allow for industry testing and feedback prior to final release. "With the final release of Profile Q, integrators and end users can quickly and easily deploy pre-configured functionality between ONVIF-compliant cameras and video management systems," said Steven Dillingham, Chair of ONVIF's Profile Q Working Group.
