Fire hazard with notebook batteries

In voluntary cooperation with the Swiss Federal Inspectorate for Heavy Current Installations (ESTI), HP recalls certain batteries for HP notebooks for safety reasons. There is a certain risk of fire. The affected batteries will be replaced by HP free of charge.

What is the danger posed by the affected products?

The affected batteries may overheat and expose users to a risk of injury from fire and Combustion suspend

Which products are affected?

The affected batteries were shipped with the following HP notebooks sold between December 2015 and December 2017:

  • HP 11, HP x360
  • HP Pavilion x360
  • HP ENVY m6
  • HP ProBook 64x & 65x G2 / G3 Series
  • HP ZBook 17 G3 & 17 G4 & Studio G3

They may also have been sold as accessories or spare parts, or provided by customer service as a replacement part.

What should affected consumers do?

HP is asking customers to stay tuned to the HP website determine if your battery is affected by the product recall and follow the further instructions on this website. The affected batteries will be replaced by HP free of charge.
