Fire hazard - HP notebook battery recall
In cooperation with the Heavy Current Inspectorate ESTI, HP recalls certain batteries for HP notebooks for safety reasons. There is a certain risk of fire.
According to the Heavy Current Inspectorate, the affected batteries can overheat and expose users to a risk of injury from fire and burns.
Which products are affected?
The affected batteries were shipped with the following HP notebooks sold between December 2015 and December 2017:
- HP 11, HP x360
- HP Pavilion x360
- HP ENVY m6
- HP ProBook 64x & 65x G2 / G3 Series
- HP ZBook 17 G3 & 17 G4 & Studio G3
They may also have been sold as accessories or spare parts, or provided as spare parts by customer service, according to the ESTI notice.
What should those affected do?
HP is asking customers to stay tuned to the HP website to determine if their battery is affected by the product recall and follow the further instructions on this website. The affected batteries will be replaced free of charge, the company says.
