Fire protection engineer: training ready to start soon?
Fire protection engineers in Switzerland joined forces about a year ago. It is planned that a new course will also be launched next year. How does that look?
The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) Switzerland was officially launched a year ago (see also article here). The organization would like to create an MAS in Fire Safety Engineering at ETH Zurich. The reason: In the current educational landscape in Switzerland, there was a lack of opportunities to study fire safety engineering at university level.
To ensure that such a course of study meets the requirements and expectations of practice as far as possible, a needs analysis or survey was carried out this spring. The result: The more than 700 respondents indicated that they see a great need in this fire protection field in the coming years. At the moment, the project is in the business planning stage and looking for lecturers, according to a recently published newsletter from the Swiss Safety Center, a founding partner of SFPE Switzerland.
