Brutal hooligans filmed - witnesses wanted

The Zurich public prosecutor's office has released a video recording of rival hooligans. The police are looking for witnesses.

On February 28, 2018, before the football Cup semifinal match FCZ vs GC at the Prime Tower in the city of Zurich, GC supporters were attacked by unknown persons and massively beaten and kicked with fists and feet against the head (see video). On the basis of a video, the Zurich City Police is looking for witnesses, or people who can provide it with pictures or videos of the incidents.

Injured fans taken away by hooded men

On the date in question, the Stapo Zurich was called to Maagplatz in front of the Prime Tower at 6:15 p.m. because a brawl was in progress there. When the police officers wanted to enter the square, they were pelted with various objects and attacked, as the Stapo writes. As a result, they used rubber shot. At the same time, the uniformed officers noticed that in the background injured football fans were being taken away by hooded people. When the police officers arrived after a short time on the Maagplatz, there were already no more injured or other people there.

What does the video show?

On the video, which the police has now published, you can see how several dozen partly masked people coming from the Hardbrücke station, stormed onto Maagplatz. As a result, among others, two young men were thrown to the ground by unknown persons, maltreated with punches and repeatedly kicked with feet against their bodies and heads. After that, the unknown perpetrators fled. The video of the incident can be downloaded from the website of the city police.

Witness appeal

Zurich City Police are looking for people who can provide information about the incident or the people involved in front of the Prime Tower in the early evening of Wednesday, February 28, 2018, about 6 pm to 6:15 pm. Information is requested to the Zurich City Police, tel. 0 444 117 117.
