150 working days were spent by the volunteer experts and foundation board members in 2020. This is around 15 percent more than in previous years, writes Swiss Mountain Aid. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, workflows had to be adapted to the new circumstances and established processes had to be completely redeveloped. In addition, more requests for assistance were received due to the coronavirus crisis.

Swiss Mountain Aid had helped more than 100 small businesses in the mountain region with a Corona emergency aid program launched at short notice. Thus, around 50 more projects were supported than in the previous year - in total, support payments amounting to around 35 million Swiss francs were distributed.

The increasing solidarity of the Swiss population with the inhabitants of the mountain regions is gratifying: The number of donors has risen by around 2,500. Despite rising donor numbers, however, income from donations and bequests declined somewhat last year.
