Escape the pollen thanks to app

The "Pollen News" app from aha! Allergiezentrum Schweiz shows exactly where and how much pollen is flying. People with hay fever thus know when they can go outside without worrying.

Birch pollen is one of the most aggressive allergy triggers.

The pollen is swirling through the air: now the grasses are in bloom, causing allergy sufferers to suffer. Data show that more and more people are plagued by hay fever. The number of people affected has risen from 1 to around 20 percent in the last 100 years. This means that one in five people in Switzerland complains of itchy eyes and sneezing attacks. Practical help is available with the "Pollen News" app from aha! Allergy Center Switzerland. It delivers the latest information on pollen counts directly to your cell phone.

Pollen load at a glance
If you open the "Pollen News" app, a map of Switzerland appears with the current total pollen load in the various regions. The specific pollen loads from birch trees, grasses and the like can be filtered by locality. This means that hay fever sufferers immediately know how much pollen of a plant species is flying at their location. A forecast of the pollen count for the coming days is also quickly visible.

Everything for the treatment of hay fever
In addition to current pollen data, "Pollen News" also provides pollen and weather forecasts as well as information on the start of flowering of allergenic plants. This data comes from the Federal Office of Meteorology and Climatology MeteoSwiss. It also contains important information on the treatment of hay fever: "A pollen allergy is not a trivial illness," emphasizes Karin Stalder, an expert from aha! Allergy Center Switzerland. "If left untreated, it can lead to asthma." The app provides information on specific immunotherapy, which can be used to treat hay fever causally. A rhinitis test shows whether you really have an allergic rhinitis.

The free app is available in the iTunes Store and Google Play Store available. More at www.pollenundallergie.ch and www.aha.ch.
