Touring Club Switzerland offers new services with drones

TCS is launching a new range of services using drones. Drone Operations Services will initially offer inspection flights and the transportation of goods weighing up to 40 kilograms. A pilot order involves the transportation of solar panels onto roofs. The new service was developed in collaboration with the "Drone & Vertical Mobility Academy" and the TCS Mobility Academy.

TCS is the largest provider of training for drone pilots in Switzerland, particularly in professional use. With the launch of Drone Operations Services (DROPS), TCS now offers services in the drone sector, namely inspection flights and transport flights for loads of up to 40 kilograms.

Relief for challenging operations

Drones can make construction projects easier by replacing scaffolding or cranes or even speeding them up thanks to the precise positioning of the loads to be transported. Damage assessments can be carried out efficiently, as a drone documents the conditions quickly and with little effort. New possibilities are also opening up in logistics, particularly for transportation to remote mountain areas or ecologically sensitive regions.

DROPS thus offers solutions for previously challenging operations. "This service makes selected drone services available to customers throughout Switzerland. We are creating real added value and offering something that was not even possible until recently, for example in the drone transportation of goods on construction sites," says Nicolas Brieger, Head of Drone & Vertical Mobility Academy.

Transportation of solar panels

A first application example is the collaboration with solar pioneer Helion. On behalf of the company, DROPS pilots transport solar panels onto roofs. Thanks to the use of the cargo drone, the installation of a solar system on the roof is accelerated. At the same time, the positioning of the modules is more flexible than when using a crane and is less dependent on the distance from the road or prepared crane locations. Markus Weissenberger from Helion comments: "So far, we have only seen advantages in working with the transport drone: The modules can be transported directly to the installation site, so they no longer have to be carried and distributed by hand on the roof, which saves us time and takes the pressure off our employees."

The new offer was developed in collaboration with the "Drone & Vertical Mobility Academy" and the TCS Mobility Academy.
