Swissbau 2024 united the Swiss construction industry
From January 16 to 19, 2024, the halls of Messe Basel were the meeting place for the Swiss construction and real estate industry. On 85,000 m2 of exhibition space, 615 exhibitors and partners presented their latest products and technologies.
52,486 visitors to Swissbau took the opportunity to find out about innovations and trend topics in a personal exchange. The event program of the Swissbau Focus and Lab collaboration platforms focused on knowledge transfer, discussion and trying out solutions.
The construction industry enjoyed face-to-face interaction in an era of video conferencing and constantly growing digital channels. The Swissbau motto "Shaping change together" was omnipresent at the multi-industry trade fair and offered opportunities for product experience, information exchange and networking on a variety of platforms.
Inspiring face-to-face trade fair experience
For the first time, the trade fair organizers removed Saturday from the program, which is not very popular with most exhibitors. Swissbau was shortened from five to four days. Exhibitors praised the quality of the discussions and the renewed willingness to place orders at the trade fair. Every two years, Swissbau welcomes specialists from interdisciplinary areas of the construction industry such as architecture, planning, real estate, investment, trades and operations.
"The many positive feedbacks from exhibitors, partners and visitors confirm that we are constantly developing new and effective offers for Swissbau. A first picture of the next edition is already being created on the final day," says Rudolf Pfander, Exhibition Director Swissbau. This year, newly created marketplaces as meeting zones with short presentations and the new Swissbau Inside design stage inspired both trade visitors and private construction enthusiasts.
Discussing and trying out new knowledge
The circular economy, energy, digitalization and living space were the key themes at this year's Swissbau and represent the major challenges facing the industry. The pressure to change is intensified by new technologies, materials, tools, ways of living and working. The partners of the Swissbau Focus and Lab collaboration platforms dedicated themselves to these topics in intensive preparatory work and developed a top-class program together with Swissbau.
Trade fair manager Rudolf Pfander knows: "Today, an efficient trade fair visit is not just about maintaining contacts and presenting products in person. It is becoming increasingly important to use the day for individually selected events and exchanges with leading experts. For employers and employees alike, this is a great added value when visiting Swissbau. I am very pleased that our unique mix of exhibition and further training is so highly regarded by trade visitors."

Renowned partnerships underpin the continued relevance of Swissbau. The Leading Partners SIA, Swiss Society of Engineers and Architects and Bauen digital Schweiz / buildingSMART Switzerland were extremely satisfied with the course of Swissbau and the fully booked events. As theme partners, Hörmann, Laufen and Siemens can look back on successful days at the trade fair.
The next Swissbau will take place from Tuesday, January 20 to Friday, January 23, 2026 in Basel. During this time, the Swissbau website will keep users up to date with specialist knowledge, viewpoints and innovations from various providers and continue to show what's happening in the industry.
