Various security vulnerabilities in Lenovo hardware
Lenovo is currently affected by some vulnerabilities in its entire PC portfolio models. In the meantime, the PC manufacturer has made the necessary BIOS updates available on its website.
If you own a Lenovo computer, you should make sure that the BIOS firmware is up to date. Attackers could target several vulnerabilities and compromise PCs. The Chinese PC manufacturer classifies the severity of the vulnerabilities as "high" overall. Five security vulnerabilities were already closed in mid-September.
If attackers successfully exploit a gap, they could access the system management mode memory (SMM), among other things. This controls system-wide parameters such as hardware control and energy management.
It is not clear from the article how attacks could take place. Not all gaps affect all computer models. However, it is recommended in any case to Manufacturer page for the latest firmware updates. Countless models like the desktop, Smart Office and ThinkPad series are affected.
