#DroneSafeFlying: The FOCA clarifies

Switzerland has over 80,000 registered drones, and the trend is rising. Where am I allowed to fly my drone? Where not? The Federal Office of Civil Aviation (FOCA) is launching the #DroneSafeFlying campaign. The aim is to remind drone pilots of the applicable rules and raise awareness of the dangers.

Rescuing people, transporting medicines, protecting lettuce from fungal diseases, spotting fawns, taking wedding photos and, and, and - the number of drone operations has risen sharply in recent years. At the same time, the number of unauthorized drone flights is increasing. The FOCA is receiving more and more reports from the police and heliports.

Unauthorized flying with drones endangers safety on the ground and in the air.

#DroneSafeFlying is the name of the FOCA's information campaign. It is starting now. With catchy slogans such as "I came, I saw, I flew elsewhere", the FOCA refers to the applicable drone regulations. In order to specifically improve the level of safety, the campaign focuses on recurring scenarios such as flying over crowds of people, flying near a heliport, over nature reserves, sporting events and festivals.

The FOCA distributes the information on its website, in social media and on posters. And it relies on cooperation: cantons, municipalities, clubs, organizers of sporting events, the hospitality and tourism industry all help to spread the message.
