E-charging station with mobility protection
Alpiq, Siemens, Swisscom and Zurich Insurance want to give electric mobility a boost. The four companies are jointly developing a uniform payment and access package with integrated mobility protection for electric charging stations in Switzerland.
The solution combines for the first time all the building blocks needed for a nationwide network of electric charging stations, the four partners write:
- Hardware: Design, construction and installation of e-charging columns (Alpiq E-Mobility)
- Software: Integrated backend information technology (Siemens)
- Communication: networking, access and billing system, and the payment system (Swisscom Managed Mobility)
- Protection: roadside assistance and towing service in case of problems related to the loading mechanism (Zurich Insurance)
The four partners are convinced that a uniform access and billing system should greatly advance the expansion of the Swiss network of charging stations. This is also urgently needed: If the federal government wants to achieve the CO2 targets for passenger transport, more than 700,000 cars will have to be electric by 2020. According to industry experts, this will require 80,000 charging stations at workplaces, 23,000 in cities and 250 fast-charging stations at key transport hubs.
According to the information, the uniform infrastructure system of the four partners is expected to be available from mid-2015. Most existing charging stations can be easily retrofitted with it, as it concludes.
"The newly developed package provides impetus for the expansion of electromobility. With complete solutions for charging infrastructures, Alpiq is making a significant contribution to this" -Jasmin Staiblin, CEO Alpiq
