A new association for data protection issues
A new association was recently formed at the university campus in Zug-Rotkreuz. It aims to move Switzerland forward on data protection issues.
The new EU Data Protection Regulation and the upcoming revision of the Federal Data Protection Act are causing uncertainty among Swiss SMEs and organizations. The "Data Privacy Community" association, launched on the initiative of the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, aims to help clarify the most pressing issues for all parties involved and take Switzerland a big step forward in data protection matters, as the association writes in its statement.
The "Data Privacy Community", founded a few days ago by data protection experts, promotes knowledge about data protection and supports companies and organizations in the implementation of corresponding legal provisions.
Core tasks of the association
The association describes its core tasks as follows:
- Easy access to knowledge and information
- Further training in the area of data protection
- Networking between people involved in data protection (legal and technical perspective)
- Contact for politics, companies and other organizations
- International cooperation, mainly in the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland)
The Board
President of the new association is Jérôme Egli, Data Privacy Officer at Swica. Ursula Sury, data privacy expert and Vice Director at the Department of Information Technology at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, serves as Vice President. The office is located at the university's campus in Zug-Rotkreuz.
