Access control: "In and out" is no longer enough

It may sound strange: Pure access control, i.e. authorization checks on entry or exit, is not rocket science. However, it is often not enough to protect a building against a variety of risks and to meet today's requirements. It is therefore advisable to combine access control (ZuKo) with door and alarm management and other functions and modules. A public report.

The heart of such a system is the programmable logic controller (PLC). Siaxma AG thus gives its customers maximum scope for security planning. Siaxma's door and alarm management system is fully integrated. It is the central communication hub for all peripheral devices such as door controllers, readers, intruder alarm and intercom systems, video surveillance and building management systems.

Siaxma door management controls all door functions, from simple office doors to escape doors, from forwarding ramps to complex personnel interlocks. With Siaxma alarm management, the various alarm and fault messages from all safety-relevant systems can be recorded and displayed chronologically, filtered by data point, object and floor, area and group as well as data point status if required. On request, customer site plans and floor plans can be imported into the Siaxma visualization module.

A good ZuKo forces you to think

Effective access control first requires the formulation of clear priorities and protection goals. Organizational structures and processes may even be optimized. An electronic locking system, for example, reduces a great deal of organizational and administrative effort, enables the management and control of online and offline doors in the same system, facilitates the short-term adjustment of access authorizations and reduces the number of mechanical keys and cylinders.

ZuKo and video: Both are best combined

Today, video surveillance systems are successfully used by large companies, SMEs, administrations and authorities to protect against break-ins and vandalism. They also protect valuables, equipment and intellectual property from theft. They also significantly support access control and have thus become an indispensable part of a security concept.

As a premium partner of Geutebrück, Siaxma AG prefers to connect such systems to its access control system via a direct interface. This integration allows operators to benefit from alarm-based image activation, for example: a sensitive door is left open for too long - either deliberately or due to negligence - and the video image automatically appears on the monitor. This gives the operator maximum control and allows them to optimally secure their buildings, areas and systems.
