Proper disposal of ionization smoke detectors (IRM)
Ionization smoke detectors have provided you with optimal fire protection for a long time. However, these are getting on in years and should be replaced by fire detectors of the latest technology.
Operators of ionization detectors are responsible for disposing of them properly. Disposing of them properly means not only that they are dismantled and transported in accordance with the regulations, but also that the radioactive material is processed and reused without leaving any residues.
The Association of Swiss Installers of Security Systems (SES) has compiled a list of specialist companies compiledwho can properly dispose of the ionization smoke detectors in Switzerland. In a Leaflet the association also explains further instructions on the proper disposal of ionization detector materials.
